This piece by Yoko Ono examines the role of a female body in art. Artist gave an instruction to the audience, to cut piece of her clothing, while she would sit almost motionless in the middle. At first people were hesitant, then they cut little pieces, by the end a man cut her blouse open, and then her bra straps were cut. She has raised her hands to keep her breasts covered, soon the performance was over.
The act of cutting the clothes, in order to reveal a woman’s body suggests violence. The viewer is implicated in the act.
